I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Quantitative Methods (DMC-FEET) at the Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC). I did my Ph.D. on Mathematical Engineering, Statistics and Operations Research at the UCM supervised by Daniel Hernández-Lobato (UAM) and my postdoctoral research at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (ICMAT-CSIC) with David Ríos Insua. I was also a visiting scholar at Aalto University, Finland, working in the Probabilistic Machine Learning Group. I hold a degree in Physics from the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) and a Master's in Theoretical Physics from Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).
I work at the intersection of Bayesian statistics and machine learning, mainly on scalable approximate inference methods. Alongside probabilistic approaches to AI I also do applied research on drug discovery and AI for the biosciences more broadly.
